Our History

2012

Launched in 2012, the Love Matters Kenya (LMK) program—originally known as Love Matters Africa—was created to serve the African region with accurate, youth-friendly information on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Implemented by a Kenyan team of experts in SRHR, public health, LGBTQ+ issues, and digital media, the program is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BUZA) and focuses on delivering accessible online SRHR content tailored to the needs of young people across the continent.

January 2017 – 2019

Love Matters Kenya (LMK) transitioned to AmplifyChange funding under the Rights, Evidence, Action (REA) programme, marking a significant expansion of its scope. The initiative now includes targeted support for young LGBTQ+ communities and a stronger focus on SRHR advocacy, deepening its commitment to inclusive, rights-based digital engagement.

May 2020 – October 2024

Under the Transform Health CoalitionAfrica Media Trust (AMT) played a key role in advancing the conversations around digital health technologies as a pathway to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Through strategic media campaigns, AMT raised public awareness and fostered dialogue on the importance of integrating digital tools—such as electronic health records, telemedicine, and mobile health platforms—into national health systems. These campaigns aimed to inform citizens, influence policy, and promote equitable access to digital health innovations, particularly for underserved and marginalized communities. By leveraging its expertise in digital media and advocacy, AMT contributed to building momentum for inclusive, tech-enabled health systems that leave no one behind.
